A very commonly used feature on sites that we build are web forms. Drupal has a highly capable system that allows people to build a web form by specifying the types of question items they want to use.  Webform allows for emails to be sent and the results downloaded - in its basic form. There are many extensions. 

Some uses of webform are: 

• Contact us form e.g http://www.cmcrc.com/about/contact
• Submission for a scholarship or application for a prize
• Enter a photo competition - inculdes paying a membership fee, joining  and creating account, joining a walk and uploading photographs. eg. http://www.colongwilderness.org.au/campaigns/the-gardens-of-stone/infocus-getinvolved
• Pledges
• Collecting submissions to third parties. e.g. petitions.

The webform builder is web-based. Getting your webform right takes a bit of thinking but we find that people can do this capably.

 

Send Email Rules

Email can be sent to the person that submitted the form, third parties or a person designated to watch submissions.

Download the Results

The results can be downloaded, usually as a comma separated list (CSV) for use in spreadsheet programs. 

Integrate with the Customer Relationship Management System or the Website

A 'contact' can be created that you can send messages to later, e.g. I agree to receive updates relating to this campaign. If people are submitting photographs these can be added to a gallery.

Webform is integrated with the site, so you can ask people to do further things on your website, particularly share the pages relating to the web form or call to action that you are promoting.
